Description

A small clear water lake (Secchi depth 3.7 m; August 2009) situated in the suburban area of the city of Jyväskylä in central Finland. Water quality is still relatively good, but some signs of eutrophication are visible. There is a common beach and some road and rail construction activities around the lake which are affecting on the lake status. Extensive reed beds dominate some parts of the littoral zone. The hypolimnion of the lake is anoxic below 6 m depth during the summer stratified period. Infrequent limnological data is available from the lake from the 2000's. The fish community is composed almost totally of core species of Finnish lakes: perch (Perca fluviatilis), roach (Rutilus rutilus), pike (Esox lucius) and ruffe (Gymnocephalus cernuus). All biological elements included in WISER are sampled in the lake.
